The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Sub Committee meetings are underway and plans are coming together nicely.
Team Green Moor are working hard to plant a wildflower area on the Delf field and a cottage garden in the Millennium Green to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Parishioners and friends are invited to make and display scarecrows across the parish. The theme is “Royalty through the Ages” Please contact the people listed below if you would like to take part by 20th May 2022. The scarecrows need to be in place by Sunday 29th May 2022. There will be a chance for people to vote for their favourite scarecrow and prizes will be given to the top three as voted by parishioners and visitors. Further details will be added to this page soon.
On Thursday 2nd June 2022 Green Moor Cricket Club will open and refreshments will be on sale, including the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon Tart. At 9.45pm following the official proclamation and fanfare, Cllr Philip Watts will be lighting the beacon at the Isle of Skye as part of the national beacon chain.
On Friday 3rd June 2022 at 10.00am, Green Moor Church will be holding a Summer Fair and serving refreshments including bacon sandwiches. At 11.00am, Cllr Kathryn Battye will be leading a Parish Walk from the Isle of Skye to Underbank and Snowden Hill to view the scarecrows in that area of the parish. Walkers will need to wear strong shoes and be prepared for ups and downs and stiles. Refreshments and comfort stops will be available on route.
On Saturday 4th June 2022 the Parish Council has no events planned but would like to encourage everyone to support the Fun Day being arranged by neighbouring Oxspring Parish Council.
On Sunday 5th June 2002 everyone is being asked to dress in red, white and blue, or wear a fancy hat! At 11.00am all are invited to a Service of Celebration at Green Moor Church. This will be followed by a Parish Picnic on the Delf Field from 1.00pm, please bring your own picnic and join in the fun. Everyone is welcome to take part in the Platinum Jubilee Baking Competition. Children are to be asked to enter decorated bunting biscuits or cupcakes and for adults, a decorated cake. There will be children’s traditional races and a penalty shoot out competition featuring the new goal post, with prizes for competitors. The National Anthem will be played to close the celebrations in Hunshelf.
